Physical purification: The main methods of physical purification of barite are: hand selection, gravity separation and magnetic separation. Without equipment, the method is simple and easy, but the productivity is low and the waste of resources is large. Gravity separation is based on the difference in density between barite and associated minerals. The raw ore is washed and screened, crushed, graded and deslimed, jigged, and shaker sorted. Before selection, the mud must be removed by hydrocyclone to improve the selection effect. Magnetic separation is often used to remove some iron oxide magnetic minerals such as siderite, which are used as barite raw materials for barium-based medicines that require very low iron content.

3. Processing technology of barite

The outstanding features of high-purity, high-whiteness ultra-fine barite are: superior optical properties, good dispersion, and good adsorption. After crushing, barite still maintains the crystal structure of the mineral, which can replace titanium dioxide for paint, rubber, plastic, paper, ceramics and other industries.

(1) Dry process

Barite has low Mohs hardness, high density, good brittleness, and is easy to crush. At present, most of the superfine grinding of barite adopts dry process, and the commonly used equipment includes jet mill, roller mill (Raymond mill, vertical mill), vibration mill and so on.

(2) Wet process

After wet mineral processing and purification, ultra-fine crushing processing can be carried out. Wet ultra-fine crushing process can be adopted, and stirring mill, vibration mill, ball mill, etc. can be used for equipment. After the powder is pickled, it can improve its whiteness and weather resistance; adding an activator to the peeling process can be activated while being ultrafine.

Barite is a very important non-metallic mineral raw material with a wide range of industrial applications.

(1) Packing industry

In the paint industry, barite powder filler can increase the thickness, strength and durability of the paint film. Lithopone is also used to make white paint, and it has more advantages than lead white and magnesium white when used indoors. The barite used in the paint industry requires sufficient fineness and high whiteness.

Paper industry, rubber and plastic industries also use barite as filler, which can improve the hardness, wear resistance and aging resistance of rubber and plastic. (2) Mineralizer for cement industry

The use of barite and fluorite composite mineralizers in cement production can improve the quality of clinker, increase the early strength of cement by about 20-25%, and the later strength by about 10%, and reduce the clinker firing temperature. Adding an appropriate amount of barite to the cement raw material with coal gangue as raw material can greatly improve the strength of cement with a low clinker saturation ratio, especially the early strength, which is for the comprehensive utilization of coal gangue and for the production of low calcium , energy saving, early strength and high strength cement provide a beneficial way.

(3) Anti-ray cement, mortar and concrete

Using barite to absorb X-rays, barite is used to make barium cement, barite mortar and barite concrete, which are used to replace metal lead plates to shield nuclear reactors and to build X-ray-proof buildings for scientific research and hospitals.

(4) Road construction

A mixture of rubber and asphalt containing about 10% barite, a durable paving material, has been successfully used in parking lots. Currently, tires for heavy road construction equipment are partially filled with barite to add weight and facilitate compaction of fill areas.

(5) Others

After blending barite and oil, apply it on the cloth base to make oilcloth. Barite powder is used to refine kerosene, used as a contrast agent for the digestive tract in the pharmaceutical industry, and used to make pesticides, tanning, and fireworks.
